Brooks Avenue x Kristy Harvey: The Carolina Blue Laser Cut Set

It was the evening of June 26th when I got a message from Kristy Harvey over Instagram DM that read:

"Okay... Product request. :) We need the leather outfit in Carolina blue!!! I am the convocation speaker this year and I can't think of anything I want to wear. Haha!"

Kristy had previously worn our Laser Cut Set in White while promoting her book, Summer State of Mind, and you all absolutely loved it. So when she asked about creating a Carolina Blue version, it felt like the easiest yes. We already knew the silhouette worked beautifully on her, we knew how much you all loved the original, and the idea of reimagining it in Carolina blue for such a special moment just made perfect sense.

For those who don't know, I was born and bred a Tar Heel and went there for my undergrad. My parents, grandparents, aunt, cousins, siblings, and now my fiancé and his family also all went to UNC-Chapel Hill, so when Kristy, a fellow Tar Heel and New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author of thirteen novels, came to me with the idea of creating a custom Carolina Blue set for convocation, it felt incredibly full circle. I’ve admired both her work and the amazing community she has built around it, so getting to make something special for her felt like such an honor.

The next day after Kristy texted me, I had blue leather swatches for selection. We landed on the perfect soft Carolina blue, sent it to my factory for sampling, and got to work turning our laser-cut silhouette into something made especially for Kristy.

Just over a month later, the finished set was on its way to her, and she was standing at UNC-Chapel Hill speaking to thousands of students on the cusp of beginning four years that still hold such a special place in my heart.

I was hopeful the new Carolina Blue set would get a few compliments, but the response was more than I ever could have imagined. Dozens upon dozens of comments and likes within the first 45 minutes of Kristy's post signed the deal on a collaboration, and and it's finally here!

You May Ask... Why a Pre-Order? 

We wanted to offer the Carolina Blue Set on pre-order because, as a small business, pre-orders give us a much better way to gauge interest and make the right amount for you.

 When our Laser Cut Set launched in white, it flew off the shelves so quickly that we were scrambling to restock, and this time we wanted to give everyone who was so excited about the Carolina Blue version the chance to reserve a set in advance with a 20% deposit. 

Your pre-order essentially helps us know to make one for you. The set is expected to ship in early February 2027, just in time for spring festivities, Carolina basketball games, and warmer weather. The longer turnaround is due to the intricate laser cutwork that covers the fabric and makes this set so special; it takes time to produce properly, and we think it’s worth the wait!
